Vidya Daan (first introduced in Sep 2019)
- Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development has prepared a module to introduce study of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the school level.
- The announcement for the initiative was made by Union Human Resource and Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak while addressing Central Board of Secondary Education’s Teachers Awards 2018-19.
- During the event, 34 teachers were felicitated for their outstanding and innovative contribution in field of teaching.

- Vidya Daan: It is a unique initiative in which a repository of content is prepared by teachers by uploading study materials for students of class 6th-10th on an on-line platform called Diksha App.
Background:
- The Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), Government of India, has nationalized DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing), a globally unique, made in India initiative that leverages existing, highly scalable and flexible digital infrastructures, around the needs of teaching and learning in school education.
- DIKSHA was launched on 5th September 2017 by the Hon. Vice President of India and has increased its footprints manifold since then.
- As on date, 30+ States/UTs leverage DIKSHA for augmenting teaching and learning processes.
- Direction:
- The Hon’ble Prime Minister during the DIKSHA review meeting held on 28th August’19 stressed on the use of crowdsourcing tools to obtain high quality content under VidyaDaan program from expert teachers/individuals and organizations.
- Moreover, realizing the scale and potential of DIKSHA, multiple institutions, organizations and individuals over the years, have expressed their interest in contributing digital resources on DIKSHA to enhance the knowledge base of our students and teachers.
- Progress so far:
- With this vision, VidyaDaan program was launched on 12th September 2019 by Hon’ble HRM, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal.
- 6000+ e-Content was contributed to CBSE by several schools in the country through VidyaDaan, across grades 6th to 10th, covering a variety of e-resources, including explanation content, lesson plans, presentations, videos, Question Banks, etc. in a short span of time.
- The content was organized on DIKSHA platform as per the table of contents of NCERT textbooks for easy discovery and consumption.
4 The current context:
- The entire world is facing a completely unprecedented crisis due to the spread of Covid-19, and education of students across schools, UG & PG is impacted everywhere. This is the appropriate time to leverage technology to enable continuity in education across schools, UG & PG using platforms like DIKSHA & beyond.

Objective of the programme
VidyanDaan 2.0 will bring together academicians, organizations and e-learning content. The contributors shall share content in the form of videos, assessments, lesson plans and question banks. The content shared are to be monitored by a panel of experts
DIKSHA
DIKSHA is National Digital Infrastructure launched for teachers. It acts as a platform for the teachers to learn and train themselves. It will help them in creating in-class resources, training content, assessment aids and also stay connected with other teacher community.

- Every year the International Girls in ICT Day is observed on the fourth Thursday of April. It is an initiative backed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Member States.
- In 2020, the day was observed virtually on 23rd April.
- 2020 theme: ‘Inspiring the Next Generation’.
- It provides an initiative to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICT).

World Book Day is observed on 23 April. The day is celebrated by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and other related organizations. The global celebration of books and reading material is observed in more than 100 countries.
World Book Day was first designated by UNESCO in 1995 at UNESCO’s General Conference held in Paris, France. The day honours the world-famous author William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and all the authors.

E Gram Swaraj Portal & App:
- The egram swaraj.gov. portal will be the single platform to provide the Panchayat-wise work details and records of all the works of every village panchayat under Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
- This single interface will help speed-up the implementation of projects in rural areas from planning to completion.
- All the details about Panchayat Sachiv and Panch can be checked on the portal.
- It will also contain the details of ongoing development works and the fund allocated for them.
- Any citizen can create his or her account on the portal and can know about the developmental works of villages.
- Individuals can also know about the all the works of Ministry of Panchayati Raj through this portal.
- Both portal and mobile app will boost e-Governance in the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) across India.
- The portal will enhance transparency in decentralised planning of development projects, progress reporting and work-based accounting on the whole.
Swamitva Scheme
PM Modi also launched the Swamitva Scheme on the same occasion. The scheme will enable rapid development of rural areas by mapping all the village properties.
Highlights of Swamitva Scheme
- Under the scheme, latest surveying technology such as drones will be used for measuring the inhabited land in villages and rural areas.
- The mapping and survey will be conducted in collaboration with the Survey of India, State Revenue Department and State Panchayati Raj Department under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
- The drones will draw the digital map of every property falling in geographical limit of each Indian village.
- Property Cards will be prepared and given to respective owners.
- It will create records of land ownership in villages and these records will further facilitate tax collection, new building plan and issuance of permits.
- The scheme would help in reducing the disputes over property.
- It will make it easier for villagers to avail of the bank loans.
- It will enable government in effectively planning for the infrastructural programs in villages.
